Tim Donne, Bupa 10km Run, UK

Last December, one of our child sponsors, Sali Douglas Watson, celebrated her birthday and told family and friends that instead of gifts, she would rather they made donations to Home from Home. This spurred her brother, Tim Donne, into agreeing to do a sponsored 10km run to benefit Home from Home. This was a real personal achievement for Tim, as he was born with Talipes which can make running a bit of a challenge. He ran the race also as a tribute to Mr Apley, the surgeon who performed a series of pioneering operations on his feet almost 50 years ago. Tim said “It’s hard to describe how happy I am to have fulfilled Sali’s birthday request by raising money for your wonderful organisation.  It is the most worthwhile thing I have done for a very long time.” Tim raised over GBP 1200 for Friends of Home from Home (our UK fundraising arm) through the website organisation, Just Giving
