The re-launch of the Lizo Nobanda Early Childhood Development and Learning Resource Centre

After many months of planning, building, painting and sorting, the newly refurbished centre was re-launched on 21st September. It was especially wonderful to have many of the funders, who generously contributed towards the improvements at the centre, join the Home from Home team and children to celebrate this exciting event.

The creche was opened by Home from Home 11 years ago and, with thanks to our four full-time staff members, is currently caring for nearly 50 children from the Khayelitsha community.

Most of the older children living in our eight Khayelitsha foster homes started their schooling career at the centre and we were thrilled to have some of them join us on the day for the celebrations. The highlight of the upgrade was the installation of a new container library and computer room, which will be used by the older children who use the centre after school for homework support and tutoring. Thank you to the special donors who made this possible!
