Mandela Day

Mandela Day is always a busy time at Home from Home – and it’s great to have such wonderful friends and supporters who pledge this day to lend a hand.

This year we were thrilled to receive a large donation of children’s clothes from the Bay Primary School in Fish Hoek, as part of their Mandela Day initiative. These clothes were then sorted and distributed to the children in our homes by our hardworking volunteers. And it was exactly what we needed in the middle of winter! This was a wonderful opportunity for all of the Bay Primary learners to realise how donating their previously loved clothing can make a BIG difference in other children’s lives. We are so appreciative of the support of various schools around Cape Town, who encourage their learners to contribute by giving in whatever way they can to those in need.

The team from Southern Destinations also joined us on Mandela Day at our ECD in Khayelitsha, and helped to stock the new container library with much needed books! The team spent the morning cleaning and sorting books, followed by a bit of fun, hot dogs and juice with the little ones. Thank you Southern Destinations for your ongoing support!
