We believe that living in a small family unit of no more than six children with a dedicated foster mother or parents is the next best place for children who cannot be cared for by their biological families.
Our network of 32 quality foster homes and three Transition Support homes spans 16 communities from Kayamandi to Khayelitsha, Masiphumelele to Zonnebloem and more. This means that we are able to care for over 200 children who would otherwise not experience family life.
We strongly believe that our registered Cluster Foster Care Scheme is the best setting for resilience and recovery for our children. The majority of our homes are linked to a community-based associate, which is either a local community or faith-based organization, who assist with the setting up and running of the homes. These associations ensure community-based support for the children and foster parents, which means that they are integrated into their local community. This working relationship with associates in the communities ensures that together, we can provide the expertise and resources required for the high level of care we want for our children.
In addition, there are ten homes across the Western and Eastern Cape which are run by our Affiliates. They use the Home from Home model of care, which at capacity, provides homes for an additional 60 children. Home from Home consults to these organisations and assists them to implement our unique and successful model of care. We provide ongoing training, support, monitoring, and evaluation.
